Today, August 14, 2023, the Bangsamoro Parliament Approved on Third and Final Reading, Parliament bill No. 37, An Act Establishing the Bangsamoro Science High School System.
The Law is in no doubt noble and has immense impact on the educational development of the Bangsamoro Youth. It would definitely afford opportunity to access quality education on Science, Mathematics and Technology, to poor but deserving students who were left behind and affected by war and conflict as a consequence of the Bangsamoro struggle.
As an educator, I AM ALWAYS BE ON ALL OUT SUPPORT FOR SUCH A LOFTY LEGISLATION.
However, I was disheartened by the fact that such SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL will only be established initially in the Mainland sans in the Island Provinces.(despite our appeal) for a simultaneous establishment of such School.
I could hardly yield to the idea of “dito muna sa Mainland” “e pilot muna natin”. The usual reasons whenever we demand for a synchronous implementation of all projects, programs, offices and institutions which are common to the needs and expectations of our people.
Moreover, if the reason is funding support, the initial fund of only 55 million for its Implementation is insignificant. Why can’t we appropriate the same 55 million for another campus in anywhere in the Basulta?
Accordingly, with a heavy heart and for the Love of Lupah Sug and the Basulta region, my vote today was an ABSTENTION.
